Game Pick: GLtron

•September 24, 2007 • Leave a Comment

This pick is a very good looking lightcycle racing game inspired by the 1982 movie TRON and, as the developer of the game, Andreas Umbach, puts it, “…by all the games that were inspired by the movie TRON.” It is called GLtron and it is a lot of fun to play. I recall playing this game on my iBook G4 in the few minutes prior to my American Government class began when I was in college. Any information you could possibly want to know about the game is on the GLtron home page. The website also includes screenshots.

Software Pick: ASCII Generator dotNET

•September 18, 2007 • 1 Comment

I like to take pictures. When I take the pictures, I like to do different things to them (i.e. sepia tone, black and white, etc.). Recently, I have come across a new kind of image toy. It is called ASCII Generator dotNET. What is it? I will quote the website.

Does God Love Gamers?

•April 18, 2007 • 3 Comments

Are you an avid gamer? If you are like me, then your answer will most likely be yes. Have you ever wondered if God has any concerns with our time consuming form of entertainment? Especially, with the content of many games on the market. It is difficult to find a game where the goal is not to kill someone or something. It is hard to find games that have a lasting appeal and present a reasonable challenge that doesn’t involve violence. Continue reading ‘Does God Love Gamers?’

Are Video Games to Blame?

•April 11, 2007 • Leave a Comment

There is rising speculation to the idea that video games are a cause or the cause to the heightened violence in schools. Are video games addicting? Do they really instill a violent nature in the youth of today? As a true gamer, this topic is of interest to me. I’ll try not to have too much bias as I discuss this a bit. My top 10 PC Games

•April 5, 2007 • Leave a Comment

In this post, I will give a list of my top 10 PC games. These are games that I have played since I have been using computers (about 1994). These games may or may not be in a specific order, but the order is very close. At times I may feel one is higher than the other, but these are my general rankings. Chances are, I will find a new game and it will replace a game on this list, but when that time comes, I will figure out a way to deal with it. So, here they are:

#10 — PlaneShift

PlaneShift is a 3D fantasy MMORPG. Did I mention that it’s free? No monthly fees whatsoever and it is absolutely fun. I can spend a lot of time in the world of PlaneShift. The only thing I have against the game is that it takes a while to get used to. There is, however, a wonderful player’s guide that everyone should read before playing. It will tell you everything you need to know. Another thing to keep in mind is to be patient with the game. It is still under heavy development. Continue reading ‘My top 10 PC Games’
